LIASA is working together with the platform 3Dcovid19.tech to create a new field ventilator. The Consorci Sanitari Parc Taulí de Sabadell, together with other university research centres, several other participating companies and the Col·legi de Metges in Barcelona, have launched the Leitat 1 field ventilator, which has been made using a 3D printer.
Our collaboration in this project has been focused on the manufacturing of the system that fastens the ventilator to the patient’s head. By means of elastic bands and metal ends for high flow nasal cannulas, which have been made using a 3D printer
As we are manufacturers of elastic bands, elastic straps and elastic cords for health masks, we can produce depending on the needs of the engineers. We can also cut them to the necessary size and apply the solution or end required. There are many options available.
And, likewise, there are many collaborative efforts, thanks to the platform 3Dcovid19.tech, which, by connecting companies, health centres and public organisations, creates a knock-on effect amidst this explosion of collaborative knowledge.
According to the platform, right now there are a minimum of four field ventilators under way. And a key factor in these projects is that there are people working in hospitals alongside the engineers, so the needs of the hospital can be met.
At LIASA, we are pleased to be able to take part in this project by supplying important elements such as fastening straps. By making rubber bands, elastic bands and elastic cords for face masks, we are doing our part. Let’s carry on manufacturing!
